Arend Bruijn is a Dutch composer specialised in music for film. Over the last years, he worked on many films, tv-series and commercials as a freelance composer.

After graduating as a classical percussionist, he studied Composing for Film at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Dutch Film Academy.

Arend's music has received multiple award nominations such as the BUMA New Talent Award 2018 and the Best Music for short film at the Festival du Film d’Aubagne.
As a teacher he is connected to the film music master department of the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

Commercial clients include Heineken, Red Cross, Videoland (Dutch film streaming service), Stegeman, Ziengs and the Police of the Netherlands.

In 2022 Arend started writing and producing high quality trailer music for companies like BMG Production Music and X-Ray Dog. His contribution to the first album consists of epic orchestral music enhanced with a real recorded string orchestra.
This year he also composed and produced the original score for the up-and-coming horror short film ‘GNOMES’. Directed by long time collaborator and friend Ruwan Heggelman, 'GNOMES' was selected for the Marché du Film, Proof of Concept in Cannes and won the MÉLIÈS D’ARGENT for best European short film.

Each project Arend searches for a unique, musical style to support the story and ways to add depth to the narrative. Because of his classical background and the curiosity to explore new sounds and techniques, he has mastered many different musical styles with a broad sound palette. His specialty however lies in orchestral music, ranging from epic “bigger than life” to warm and playful scores.
